President Trump lauds House Freedom Caucus for leading the fight to pass the SAVE Act

President Trump used his Truth Social platform to share an ad from the House Freedom Caucus touting the group’s role in passing the SAVE America Act through the House of Representatives on a 218-213 vote.

Trump declared that he was “proud” of the Freedom Caucus for taking the lead in securing the decisive votes to pass the SAVE America Act.

The SAVE America Act requires proof of citizenship and voter ID to cast a ballot in federal elections.

Chuck Schumer led the opposition to the SAVE America Act, slamming the idea of requiring voter ID and proof of citizenship to vote as unfair.

Polls show that over 80 percent of the public supports voter ID, leading President Trump to argue that passing the SAVE America Act was both politically popular and necessary to secure America’s elections.

President Trump designated the SAVE Act as his “number one” legislative priority in 2026.

“They have to get it done,” Trump told House Republicans about passing the SAVE

Act through the Senate. “If it takes you six months — I’m for not approving anything… I don’t think we should approve anything until this is approved.”

But the bill stalled in the Senate amid the 60-vote rule to break a filibuster.

The House Freedom Caucus informed Americans that “it’s not true” that the Senate can only advance legislation by reaching the 60-vote threshold.

Rather, the ad explained that if 51 senators from the majority show up in the chamber, the minority would have to hold the floor for a talking filibuster.

The ad went on to inform Americans that if the majority “stayed united,” the minority would eventually “run out of time to talk.”

Once that happens, the Senate can pass the SAVE America Act by a simple majority vote.

President Trump wants to see the SAVE America Act sent to his desk for signature.

“The Save America Act is one of the most IMPORTANT & CONSEQUENTIAL pieces of legislation in the history of Congress, and America itself,” Trump wrote on social media.

By sharing the Freedom Caucus’s ad, President Trump endorsed the idea that the Senate should use every procedural tool at its disposal to pass the SAVE America Act.
