A House Judiciary Subcommittee Hearing on sanctuary city policies erupted when Texas Congressman, and House Freedom Caucus Member Brandon Gill took issue with fellow members not taking the testimony of angel families seriously.
Gill slammed Georgia Congressman Hank Johnson for suggesting the committee’s time would be better spent debating tax policy.
“I think it’s worth saying that was one of the most disgusting testimonies I have ever heard, to have Hank come in here and lecture Angel families, but how they shouldn’t be here, how we shouldn’t be holding this hearing. What the hell is wrong with you guys,” Gill exclaimed.
Gill argued that it was important that the American people hear the stories of loss from these angel families to understand the impact of not securing the border.
“The reason they’re here is because of open borders that you guys perpetrated for four years,” Gill added.
Gill contended there was no more important topic for the committee to devote time to.
“And to come in here and to turn this into a … low IQ lecture is sickening to whine about which seats they’re in. It’s disgusting,” Gill concluded.
Angel family members agreed.
An illegal alien drunk driver killed Jen Heiling’s son and girlfriend when they were driving the wrong way.
Heiling, who fought back tears, described her family’s loss as so painful they struggled to proceed with the burial.
“We can’t pick a headstone because that makes it too real,” Heiling stated. “But you can sit here and tell us about what kind of hearing this should be.”
Another witness was Patricia Fox, whose daughter Cassie was left barely conscious, nonverbal, confined to a wheelchair and reliant on feeding tubes after an illegal alien driver plowed into her after running a stop sign, criticized members of Congress who wanted to move on to other topics.
“Ya’ll can’t seem to stay on topic for what, an hour of your time. You’ve got to bring up ‘what, about, what about, what about’ no. We’re talking about these four families. Stay on topic. I don’t want to talk about Epstein right now, that’s another hearing,” Fox declared. “Right now, we’re talking about sanctuary policies and how they have wrecked our families.”
Immigration is one of the thorniest issues facing Congress.
The Department of Justice defines eleven states and the District of Columbia as sanctuary jurisdictions.
There are also fourteen cities around the country that enacted sanctuary policies.
The Trump administration is suing sanctuary cities and states.
House Freedom Cacus members like Brandon Gill maintain that immigration enforcement is one the fundamental duties of the federal government.
